Jeffrey Gitomer’s Little Green Book On How To Get Away With It

“Jeffrey Gitomer’s Little Green Book on Getting Away With It” is full of practical advice on how to speak, write, and present. The advice is geared towards connecting with your audience to get your way. The subtitle is “How to Speak, Write, Present, Persuade, Influence, and Sell Your Point of View to Others.” The book is entertaining, easy to read, and packed with good advice.

This was the first of the “Little” Gitomer books that I read. I bought a set of them, so I plan to read others very soon. Before purchasing the game, I went through the individual volumes to ensure that I would not be disappointed. I am not. I really like this series of books. The interesting format, with some cartoons, some pages containing a large quote and numerous lists make it easy and pleasant to read.

I think this book will be of great use to people who need or want to make presentations. Gitomer provides many practical tips on how to make presentations stand out. Before you can persuade or influence an audience, you must first connect with them, and Gitomer provides several tips and strategies for doing just that. A great one-page quote is: “Your audience wants to know you, like you, trust you, believe you, trust you, understand you, learn from you, smile or laugh, and feel that you value them.” Simple and practical advice, something everyone here should remember.

The book is not just about talking. Gitomer also includes a couple of chapters on writing. However, one of his strategies is to write as he speaks. Many of the speaking tips can also be used for writing.

If you want a fun and practical book on how to increase the effectiveness of your presentations and, to a lesser degree, improve your writing, this “Little Green Book to Get Your Way” is worth reading. I’m going to read parts of it again.
