McGill Named Best Canadian University in World Ranking

Founded in 1821, McGill University is one of the oldest and best universities in Canada. It has two campuses (downtown campus and Macdonald campus), 11 colleges, and more than 300 fields of study. With students hailing from around 150 countries, it has a student body of over 32,000, 20% of whom are international students. To date, the university has produced eight Nobel Laureates and 128 Rhodes Scholars.

According to the Times Higher Education-QS 2008 World University Rankings, McGill is the highest ranked university in Canada and the only Canadian university in the world’s top 20 (world ranking 20), followed by the University of British Columbia and the University of Toronto

Over the years, the university has achieved outstanding performance in ranking on many of the national and international leaderboards, making it one of the best-known universities in the world.

Achievement of university ranking:

– According to Maclean’s Guide to Canadian Universities 2007, McGill ranks first in the medical doctorate category, followed by Queen’s and Toronto.

– According to the 2008 Academic Ranking of the 500 best universities in the world, McGill is ranked 60th in the world and 42nd among universities in North America and Latin America.

– It is ranked among the top 100 universities in the world by Webometrics Ranking, ranked 86th in the world and 69th among all universities in the US and Canada.

– It is ranked as the second best research university in Canada by Research Infosource 2007.

– According to the 2006 Newsweek ranking of global universities, it is ranked 42nd in the world and 30th in North America.

– McGill Law School is ranked second in the country, after Toronto, according to the Maclean Law School ranking.
