Starbucks Nutrition: 3 Tips to Avoid Hidden Calories in Your Cup of Coffee

Starbucks nutrition is not available on their website. Therefore, if you love a cup of coffee, it is important that you learn what you should and should not drink.

You could be drinking a 600 calorie drink, full of sugar and fat, without even knowing it! In this case, ignorance is not a blessing, especially if you are trying to lose weight after pregnancy.

Here are 3 tips to help you get past your next Starbucks coffee stop so you’re not sipping the equivalent of a full meal in your coffee drink.

Tip No. # 1: skinny drinks

Starbucks offers a variety of “skinny” drinks. These slim drinks have unsweetened syrup, skim milk, and no whipped cream. An example would be a tall, thin vanilla latte. You can have your coffee fix for 90 calories. Not bad for a sweetened coffee drink.

If you don’t like flavored coffees and prefer the taste of plain coffee, opt for a tall, fat-free cappuccino for 60 calories. This is an even better option than slimy flavored drinks.

Or, if you really want to cut calories, buy a tall American coffee or just fresh brewed coffee. Americano has 10 calories and brewed coffee has only 5 calories. But remember, once you start adding cream and sugar, the calories start to increase.

Tip No. # 2: skip the cake

It can be hard to resist cake when you’re shopping for your cup of coffee, especially when baristas offer you samples at the counter! But, you may be better off skipping the zucchini walnut muffin for 490 calories. Who would say that something with zucchini would have that many calories?

Imagine if you got that plus a tall white mint mocha, and you’re looking at a total of 930 calories! That’s a lot of calories for a small coffee and a cake.

If you’re hungry, a better option would be the 300 calorie Strawberry Blueberry Yogurt Parfait. Add that with your skinny vanilla latte and your breakfast only totals 390 calories. Not a bad way to start the day.

Tip No. # 3: taste the tea instead

Lately there has been a lot of excitement for tea, that is, green tea for weight loss. If you opted for brewed Tazo tea, your drink has 0 calories.

To lose weight, you basically want to burn more calories than you consume. Drinking tea can save you calories in your weight loss efforts.

Also, green tea has health benefits. Benefits like fighting cancer and heart disease, lowering cholesterol, burning fat, stopping diabetes and strokes, and postponing dementia.

So the next time you feel like having a coffee, remember these Starbucks nutrition facts. When you know what you are drinking and eating, you will be in a better position to lose all or more of the weight you gained during your pregnancy.
