Your Guide to the Samsung UN55C8000 3D HDTV

Well, it seems that 3D is here to stay. Avatar started the ball rolling and almost every movie since has jumped on the bandwagon. The obvious next step was for 3D TVs to become available and they did, just a few short months after the 3D craze started. Early attempts at home 3D were prone to some errors. Samsung has led the way in fixing those bugs and the Samsung UN55C8000 is one of the best 3D TVs on the market right now.

What I like about this particular TV is that Samsung has been piling on features – you get a lot of TV for the price you’re paying.

First, there’s the screen size: 55 inches of visual heaven. Can you imagine how your favorite movie will look on a 55-inch screen? Or the next big game? On top of that, it has an LED screen, so you get incredibly high resolution, color depth, and tone. This TV even looks good off – the screen is a very deep black, so it looks just as impressive just sitting there.

Another great feature is the built-in media player. That’s right, you don’t even need to use a separate media player to enjoy all your favorite movies, music, and digital photos. Just plug your USB drive directly into this TV and you’re good to go.

You get 1080p HD output with this TV, and sound is handled by 2 x 15-watt stereo speakers. The screen itself is edge-lit. Some people have complained about this, but they seem to be a very small minority.

Finish-wise, you get a brushed titanium casing on this TV which might put some people off, but at least it’s neutral so it won’t clash with your current home decor scheme – a metal finish will match just about anything. stuff.

If you want to enjoy the big screen experience at home but don’t like wasting electricity, then this TV is for you: it consumes 50% less energy than it needs to be Energy Star qualified; yes, it’s really good.

Of course, this is a 3D TV and it’s one of the most important features, but don’t forget that to get the full 3D experience you’ll need a 3D TV, 3D Blu-ray player and 3D glasses, ideally all from the same manufacturer to so that there are no compatibility problems.

The UN55C8000 isn’t cheap, but then you do get what you pay for!
