2013 DV Lottery Lucky Winners – Country Wise

Winners of the 2013 Green Card lottery have been registered by the Kentucky Consular Center in Williamsburg. Held each year under the terms of the Immigration and Nationality Act, the DV lottery program awards 50,000 diversity visas to individuals from countries eligible for the DV lottery. About 105,628 DV-2013 applicants are registered with the KCC. All those selected can apply for immigrant visas.

Immigrant visas for eligible winners are likely to be issued by September 30, 2013 and diversity visas will be spread across 6 geographic locations. Winners applying for visas must provide proof of their education or work experience during their interviews to establish their eligibility. Although not all winners may obtain immigrant visas, all winners may apply for immigrant visas.

Sometimes all winners may not have the required educational qualifications or work experience and only half of the eligible winners may receive visas to immigrate to the United States. However, 50,000 diversity immigrant visas will be issued to eligible winners.

According to the results of DV-2013, the largest number of winners is from Ukraine (6,424). In addition, there are 6,218 winners from Nigeria, 6,029 from Iran, 5,105 from Ghana, 5,101 from Uzbekistan, 5,015 from Egypt, 4,910 from Ethiopia, 4,410 from Kenya, and 4,370 from Nepal. These are the places with the highest number of winners.

Along with these countries, there are ten other countries with the most winners, (3,924) Democratic Republic of the Congo, (3,858) Cameroon, (2,846) Russia, (2,516) Sierra Leone, (2,161) Algeria, (2,068) Morocco, (2038) Poland, (1,916) Liberia, (1,807) Turkey and (1,520) Albania.

A larger number of diversity visas, granted through this program, are allocated to countries from which far fewer people have immigrated to the United States. The United States Congress has adopted this process to diversify the general population of the country. Also, the number of diversity visas granted to all the different eligible countries is not the same and depends on the immigration rates of the countries. Similarly, the number of people entering the program from various eligible countries is also not the same and therefore the chances of an applicant winning the lottery are based on the number of applicants from their country of nationality.

Applicants from countries with fewer applicants are more likely to win the lottery. Your country of birth plays an important role because, if you are a citizen of an eligible country that has the highest chances of winning the DV lottery and with a very low number of applicants, your chances of winning the lottery may increase. Entrant Status Verification is the only way winners can find out about their interviews. The interviews will determine the winner’s eligibility and, if the interview is successful, the winner will be granted an immigrant visa and will be able to immigrate to the United States and apply for a Green Card.
