AFC Division Predictions 2010

From Manning to Brady to Rex Ryan, the AFC will once again consist of very close games each week. The Jets have made a number of moves to strengthen their team, but is Mark Sanchez really ready to take them to the next level? Will Tom Brady take the New England Patriots back to the Super Bowl? Check out our 2010 AFC split predictions below.

AFC East – The Patriots will return to their winning tradition this year with a healthy Tom Brady. Once the season starts and Brady’s connection to Moss is resumed, Randy Moss will shut his mouth and stop complaining. Look to the Patriots to beat the Jets in a tight race due to experience and Mark Sanchez’s losing streak.

AFC South – It would be very difficult to pick against Peyton Manning even with an emerging Houston Texans team led by Matt Schaub. The Texans are the sexy pick this year and we think they’ll make the playoffs, but until Peyton is Peyton, we like the Colts.

AFC North – By far the easiest division to predict. The Baltimore Ravens have provided a core of receivers for Joe Flacco to pitch from Anquan Boldin, TJ Houshmanzadeh, Donte Stallworth and don’t forget about Derrick Mason. Combine that with Ray Rice in the running game and you have a solid offensive attack. Oh yeah, and Ray Lewis still leads this defense that some are questioning this season. Really? The Baltimore Ravens defense is being questioned. The Bengals will get better, but TO will only take you so far before they implode. Big Ben is out 4 games for the Steelers, so his chances will be slim when he returns, so expect Baltimore to take the division.

AFC West: Although the Raiders have improved, we assume, they are still the Raiders and will find ways to lose games. The Broncos will be decent, but after seeing how they finished last season, there’s little doubt they can win this division. Look to the Chargers to win the AFC West, also known as the worst division in football.

Wildcard: Jets and Texans

AFC Division Winner: Baltimore dethrons the Colts and returns to the Super Bowl for the first time since their victory in 2000. Their defense has always been there and now they should have a powerful offense to go with it.
