Christmas Cookie Recipe Swap – Fun Holiday Event

Who doesn’t love homemade Christmas cookies?

When I was a kid, my favorite holiday treat was no-bake cookies. I remember the sweet scent throughout the house and the luscious gems lined up on the kitchen counter on waxed paper.

Mom made them perfect. She always made them around Christmas time. She made other types of cookies, but the no-bake ones stick in my mind.

Are you pressed for time or energy this holiday season and just don’t have the time to make a huge variety of homemade cookies? I have a very fun solution for you!

Host a Christmas cookie recipe swap party. This is a great way to put together a nice assortment of Christmas cookies. The key to this event is “how many show up”… the more guests you invite, the more recipes and cookies you’ll get.

This event can even include a festive meal before it to make it more festive. This really depends on you. But, rule number one is… each guest that attends has to bring as many dozens of a single type of homemade cookie along with her recipe. (the exact number of cookies is decided by the hostess).

Important Tips for Your Cookie Swap Event

one. It is best to print the recipes on cards. Each guest should bring several copies of his recipe. Make sure your guests include their names at the top of each copy of the recipe. It would be a good idea to have extra index cards on hand in case there aren’t enough to hand out to each guest in attendance.

2. Have your guests call you to let you know what recipe they will make and bring to the event. (just to make sure none of them bring the same recipe) Of course you want them all to be unique to provide a nice variety.

3. Have some festive disposable containers or trays available for each of your guests to collect their cookies.

Four. If you decide on a meal… to make it easy for you, sandwiches work very well for this type of event. Let it be a sideboard style. A good idea for a drink would be some mulled cider.

5. Have fun with this event and set up a festive tabletop display!

A cookie swap party is a really fun way to visit family and friends and end up with some special holiday treats and recipes at the same timeā€¦not to mention saves you time and energy when it comes to baking.
