Five Easy Scrapbook Ideas

Looking for easy scrapbook ideas that won’t take you hours to complete? Look no further! This article will introduce five simple scrapbook design tips to make your photos stand out and make your family’s stories shine.

1. The best of. Create a scrapbook layout that highlights the “Best of” your family. For example, for a family vacation page, choose a photo that showcases the highlights of the trip. Then ask each family member to list their favorite memory of the trip. (Bonus: Create a whole scrapbook based on this idea, with a favorite food page, favorite attraction page, favorite moment page, etc.).

2. The top 5. Like the “Best Of” scrapbook layout, the “Top 5” page can focus on the best movies of the year, the best plays in a football season, or the best songs your teen listens to. Note: This approach is a great way to get your kids involved in your scrapbooking! They love lists and putting their opinions on paper.

3. Who/What/When/Where/Why. Go “just the facts” in your scrapbook layout by choosing a few photos and accompanying them with the basics. Say who is in the photo, what they are doing, when and where the photos were taken, and why they were there. You can always come back later and add additional stories to flesh out the details.

4. In a word… What if you had to choose just one word or phrase to summarize the event or moment you are documenting? Perhaps a collage of photos of your kids running under the summer sprinklers could be titled “Showers of Fun.” A photo of your mother cuddling her first grandchild could be titled “Pure Love.” Sometimes a word or two is all you need!

5. 1-2-3. If you’re capturing an event that unfolds over time, three photos may be all you need to convey the full story. For example, for a wedding page, you might have a photo of the bride walking down the aisle with her father, one of the couple at the altar, and one of the happy newlyweds leaving the church. The story is told through a series of progressive photos on your scrapbook page.

Creating simple scrapbook layouts doesn’t have to rack your brain or take hours on end. In fact, I feature a ton of different ideas for journaling, designing, embellishing your scrapbook layouts, and more on my blog.
