Free Basketball Picks – 03/26/06

Hornets @ Lakers: Losing 8 games in a row and still being in the playoff race is awesome, but that’s what the Hornets are trying to get over. A win for the Hornets would make up for the recent loss at home to New Orleans. If the Hornets don’t win, it could spell big trouble for New Orleans/OK City. Expected Score: New Orleans/Oklahoma City wins 97-95

Runner Up: Falcons @ Magic: It’s Dennis Scott night in Orlando. On April 16, 10 years ago, Dennis Scott hit an NBA record 11 3-pointers (at least it was the record until Kobe stole it) against the Hawks. Dennis now works as a radio analyst for the Hawks, so having “Dennis Scott night” vs. the Hawks was a wise choice. But why not schedule the game on the 16th to celebrate the 10th anniversary? Expected Score: Orlando wins 92-88

Blowout: Knicks @ Timberwolves: The whole schedule seemed pretty tight, but in the end I picked the Knicks to lose a lot (I know I won’t be risking much). No Channing Frye means powerhouses like Jerome James and Jackie Butler will have to defend Kevin Garnett. At what point does KG take things into their own hands and score 30+? Right here would be a good guess. Expected Score: Minnesota wins 95-84
