Fun things to do while waiting for your clothes

One of the reasons so many people are unhappy when it comes to doing laundry or going to the laundromat is that they have nothing to do while they wait for the laundry to be finished. Typically, a washing machine runs for about 35 to 45 minutes (it can vary in the washing machine), and if you take the time it takes to put clothes on (usually people use two or three washers), add laundry detergent, and sit back and check your time, only 25-30 minutes left. This is enough to bore you, but not enough to get you home and back.

But, as Benjamin Franklin said, “time is money.” People want to do something because otherwise they are wasting valuable hours or two that could be spent on something important. It is true that you can try to read … but if there are small children running in the laundry room, this will not happen. You can’t really yell at them because they turn around; most people are not doing much anyway.

Tip 1: Bring an iPod and fill it up with some fast-paced songs.

There are studies that suggest that certain malls tend to play fast songs that motivate people to buy more. This is partly due to the fact that music can affect the way you perceive your surroundings, such as the weather. It’s probably true that most of you have an iPod or MP3 player of some kind, so be sure to take it with you when you go to do laundry. Spending a few bucks to buy a good music playlist can make your laundry day MUCH faster and less painful.

Tip 2: read comics.

I know I said that reading can be useless, and it is. But the comics are different. Filled with dynamic faces and images, they are great for passing time and providing great entertainment. Personally, I am a fan of comics, but I know that some people read them on their smartphone apps as well. Regardless of which method you choose, comics are a highly recommended solution that can provide free entertainment without the need for absolute silence.

Tip 3: use Pinterest and StumbleUpon.

People are constantly looking for new information and often want this new information to be interesting, fun, and new. Pinterest and StumbleUpon are two of the websites that are very popular for offering unique entertainment content. With the click of a button, you can browse through tons of great content, and the best part? They do not require serious concentration. You will read from “How to lose weight after eating fast food” to “How to be a better procrastinator” to “What Olympians have that you don’t have.” The point is, the topics are endless and will make you forget about how time went by.

These are all easy tips for spending time while you wait for your clothes, and you can stop and resume anytime you want. Of course, there are other options, so feel free to expand your list!
