History of the civil jeep

The history of the civilian Jeep is long and there have been a wide variety of CJ designs over the years. Jeeps began as military vehicles in the 1940s, and civilian jeeps also began to be produced in the 1940s. The first Civil Jeep, or CJ, was produced in 1944 because the company was thinking of a postwar market for Jeeps. These Jeeps were designed for agricultural use, and only twelve models were made in 1944. In 1945, CJs were first mass produced as CJ-2A. Over the years, civilian Jeeps changed in design, features, and performance. Eventually they became more spacious and more powerful.

In the 1980s, Civilian Jeep sales began to decline, so Jeep began making the Wrangler, which is very similar to the Civilian Jeep, except that it is lower and wider. The Wrangler was introduced in 1986 and was produced for 10 years before being redesigned in 1997. Both Wrangler designs were very popular and it remains a very reliable and popular vehicle.
