Destination Las Vegas: more than gambling
What can be said about Las Vegas that hasn’t already been said? The city is larger than life and visitors have no choice but to get sucked into the “Drama” that is Las Vegas.
In the city, everything takes on a life of its own; hotels in Las Vegas, for example, are often megastructures that offer guests as many attractions and activities as their rooms. The MGM Grand is a perfect example of the inflated expectations that have become the norm, as there is an actual Lion Habitat right on the Casino floor. The Stratosphere Hotel has several rides at the top of the hotel, about 900 feet above the ground, and the Circus Cirus Hotel has an entire theme park on site.
Venturing outside the hotels, visitors to Las Vegas may be drawn to Madame Tussauds Las Vegas wax museum. This world-renowned museum is filled with life-size wax replicas of some of the world’s biggest celebrities and other figures like Barack Obama and Lady Gaga. At the Dolphin Habitat behind the Mirage Hotel, visitors can become trainers for the day, literally diving with the dolphins.
Great places to eat are also a commodity in Las Vegas, as some of the best places in the world have found a home in the city. Chefs Joel Robuchon, Tom Colicchio and Emeril Lagasse represent a handful of world-renowned chefs who have fine-dining restaurants in the city. Just as there are plenty of fine dining opportunities, delicious casual options abound. Pink’s Hot Dogs has “the best chili dogs in the world” and Fatburger is “the best burger in Las Vegas.”
Nightlife cannot be forgotten either, since, in addition to gambling, it is one of the main attractions for many people. Most Las Vegas hotels along the Strip have one or two nightclubs that are almost always packed with celebrities and others looking to party the night away. Of course, the drinks can sometimes be overpriced, partygoers will love the fact that these clubs tend to stay open until the wee hours of the morning.
Other must-see things to experience in Las Vegas include visiting the fountains at the Bellagio, exploring the Eiffel Tower at the Paris Hotel, diving into the pool party at Planet Hollywood, or taking in the show on Freemont Street.
Las Vegas is a vacationer’s dream, as there is so much to do for young and old alike. Even with proper planning, there’s hardly enough time in a vacation, let alone a lifetime, to experience everything in the city. However, whether you’re visiting for a few days or a few weeks, a Las Vegas vacation will be filled with many wonderful memories that will be hard to beat.
