Fade Stretch Marks Without Expensive Surgery: Try Stretch Mark Removal Lotions

Research shows that stretch mark lotions can go a long way in helping to fade stretch marks. These creams and lotions rehydrate the skin and maintain the elasticity of the skin when it is stretched during pregnancy.

Pregnancy Stretch marks can be aggravated by dry and itchy skin. Women often use commercially available anti-stretch mark creams and daily moisturizers to reduce these stretch marks after pregnancy. These stretch mark lotions not only reduce dryness but also stimulate the skin resulting in good circulation to the affected areas which further diminishes stretch marks.

Stretch marks are unwanted red and white streaks that appear on the hips, thighs, stomach, breasts, arms, and shoulders. They usually occur during pregnancy. However, there may be other reasons which may include rapid weight gain or loss, dry skin, heredity, etc. Today, there are many treatments available on the market. But the easiest way to remove these pregnancy stretch marks is stretch mark lotions and creams available in the market.

Studies show that creams containing vitamin A or vitamin E can be effective for stretch marks. The best known creams derived from vitamin A are tretinoin or Retin-A. These creams may be beneficial, but are not recommended for women who are pregnant or nursing. Women using Retin-A are advised to stop taking vitamin A supplements while using this cream. Also, the advice of the GP is a must before using these stretch mark pregnancy lotions as these creams can cause side effects.

Lotions containing vitamin E can effectively remove pregnancy stretch marks. Vitamin E is considered the best antioxidant. It nourishes the cells and protects the skin from damage. Additionally, Alpha Hydrox Acid (AHA or Fruit Acids) is also considered helpful in removing unsightly stretch marks. As these acids are made from plant extracts, creams containing AHAs can help remove pregnancy stretch marks without damaging the skin while keeping the skin soft and supple.

These lotions make the outer layer of skin thinner so that the cream can reach the dermis, where it can increase the amount of collagen produced. This can lead to some dangerous side effects like swelling and redness of the skin. Also, heavy application of these lotions on stretch marks can cause itchy skin.

All of these anti-stretch mark lotions contain steroids such as gotu kola or hydrocortisone that can damage the texture of the skin. Therefore, you should avoid using these stretch mark removal lotions and opt for a natural source to remove unwanted ugly stretch marks. Creams containing cocoa butter are the option of choice and are often recommended to reduce scarring. In addition to cocoa butter, creams containing wheat germ oil, lavender oil, olive oil, and lanolin can also be used.

There is no time frame for the healing process when using these creams as the effect varies from skin to skin. Still, you can start to see results after 3-4 weeks of continuous use. These creams must be used for about 4-6 months accompanied by a good massage of the affected area to notice a significant difference.

In summary, stretch marks are a problem that occurs more frequently in women after pregnancy. These stretch marks occur due to skin expansion, dryness and itchiness. Various stretch mark lotions containing vitamin A or vitamin E can be used to remove stretch marks. However, when using such lotions/creams for stretch marks, one should be aware of the possible harmful side effects they can have on the skin.
