Installation of flexible LED strings and strings on your deck or dock

Can you install ROPE LIGHTING on your DECK and / or SPRING? YES – For years we have had string lights on our dock that started with the dock area decoration over the holidays. They’re easy to install, fairly inexpensive, and put out just the right amount of unobtrusive, indirect ambient lighting.

For those who want to have string lighting as a more permanent form of accent lighting, there are string lights built for this purpose. WATERPROOF FLEXIBLE LED STRIP LIGHTS are made specifically for outdoor use.

Waterproof flexible LED strip lights offer the perfect solution for creating stylish and energy efficient accent and ambient lighting. The light strips are discreet, flexible, and can be cut to fit your area, and since they come with a strong adhesive, they can be mounted virtually anywhere. Available in multiple colors you can create special effects on practically any surface, marine, car and / or home.

Steps to Install String Lights: The simplest and most common method of installing string lights is to nail them to the surface with wire clips. You need cable clips, a hammer, a power supply, and the rope lighting. The time required for installation depends on the length of the rope.

1. Decide where to install the string lights – Choose where you want to install the string lights. In most cases, rope lighting is installed on the ceiling, ceiling joists, or on the floor deck to produce the desired results. Consider the position of the power source to make sure its cord reaches the outlet.

2. Mount the string lighting: use the hammer to hold the lighting on the surface. Slide the string into the open arches of the cable clips during installation while turning it in the desired pattern. Make sure the hammer doesn’t miss the target while hitting the clips because it can destroy the string lighting.

3. Test your output: turn off the plug and plug in the lighting cord. Use the extension cord if the length of the lighting cord does not reach the outlet. Turn on the plug to see if it lights up.

Quick answers to the most common questions.

• Do I need a controller for my light strips? A controller is optional, but adds the ability to turn lights on and off and control other functions like dimming.

• Can I connect multiple strips? The strips can be connected end to end up to several meters, depending on your product.

Steps to install flexible LED lighting strips with solderless connectors:

1. Materials Needed – Have all your supplies ready. You will need scissors, flexible LED light strips, a connector, a ruler (if necessary), and a pair of hands.

2. Measure the number of feet of LED strip you need: The LED strip light may be shipped to you on a roll (16 feet) or by the foot depending on the quantity ordered. Decide how much flexible LED strip lighting you will need for your project. Since the LED strip can only be cut every three LEDs, you may have to slightly exceed or decrease the desired specification.

3. How to cut the LED strip: As you can see below, the flexible light strip can only be cut along the designated lines. Take a sharp pair of scissors and cut along the line.

4. Pay attention to the positive and negative markings – IMPORTANT: Look at the positive and negative sides of the LED light strip. This is important for the next steps. Sometimes when the LED strip light is cut things can get mixed up.

5. Introduction to the connector: each connector has two sides. To make sure you have the correct side facing up, make sure the widest white side is facing up. This is the top. BE GENTLE and remove the cable locking device. Do not pull on the cables to do so, as the connector is fragile.

6. Attaching the connector to the LED strip – IMPORTANT: Color doesn’t always matter! Be sure to follow the positive side of the flexible strip down through the connecting cable to the power source. Red / black can mean (+) or (-) depending on which side you have attached the connector to.

7. Securing the tray to the LED light – In the example below, if we were to connect the connector to the other side of the flexible light strip, red would be negative and black would be positive. Next, GENTLY secure the locking tray in place, connecting the terminals of the flexible LED strip light to the connector. Be nice and make sure the mounting tray is closed securely, or the lights won’t work.

8. Connecting the LED strip to power: You are now ready to connect the flexible LED strip light to the LED power source. Match the positive and negative markings with the positive and negative wires on the power supply. Make sure the power is off when you do this.

If your strip lights don’t turn on:

1. Cable color doesn’t always matter! Be sure to follow the positive side of the flexible strip down through the connecting cable to the power source. Red / black can mean (+) or (-) depending on which side of the flexible LED strip you have attached the connector to.

2. Another common problem is that the connector may be installed backwards; repeat the steps above and try again.

3. Also, MAKE SURE the tray is completely closed. Be gentle!

4. Check your power supply and make sure it is connected correctly, with (+) and (-) correct as well.

5. How many feet of LED strip are you using compared to the size of your power unit? If you are using 1 super bright 24v reel with 2.5 amp power unit it will not work because the power unit is too small.
