The main reason we are here

When I walked through the doors, my head turned completely black. “Should I take another step?” I asked myself: “Will I be able to defeat all the stones and blocks that are thrown at me? Will I be able to survive?” I asked myself these questions when I was about to take that big step. My friends called this place a prison where you had to fight to survive; using all the skills you had acquired in your life. While I took that faithful step; I completely forgot who I was, I had to run; I had to learn to fight, I had to win; I had to survive.

Being a Loyola Jesuit College student has taught me one thing and that is to have courage, determination and determination. We as students face many challenges; the many rules to follow, the tasks to perform, the class exercises that we are given, and above all, the many problems that you can encounter and that can lead to severe punishments such as suspension.

As a student, you not only have to learn to be disciplined, you have to learn to organize your schedule to fit the many activities you have. Also, there are many associations or organizations to join. As a student, it is also necessary to reserve time to participate in the activities of your association in order to express your different talents in many ways; The Sports Teams, The Liturgical Associations, The Service Program and many more.

One thing that we students don’t realize is that LJC gives us a holistic education. An education that allows us to express our talents in many ways; singing, dancing, playing sports, etc. It also teaches us to have foresight for academic excellence; to be able to dedicate ourselves to our studies. This is the result of the good teachers who are presented to us, who are endowed with patience and zeal to sit down and explain things to us for a clear understanding.

LJC, above all, teaches us to survive, to give our best, to go for the “MAGIS”, to achieve our goals and to always be happy at all times. We are also given the opportunity to build a strong relationship with God through the Mass we attend every day and the various religious associations that introduce us.

The above stream of thought is normally the stream of thought of almost every student in the school. We must learn that we do not come to LJC to survive but to receive a holistic education that is beneficial not only for us but for our community that we are going to serve and Nigeria in general. We must see our school as one that allows us to be the best we can be and achieve our goals if possible.

May God continue to bless us, our school and Nigeria.
