Tips for an Affordable Princess Birthday Party!

Like most doting parents, he looks for easy, affordable, and fun birthday parties for his daughters. Create the perfect princess birthday party for your little girl and her guests with the ideas below!

Here are some ideas for your little princess:

o Think about your party logistics and plan ahead. What day of the week will work so that most of your guests can attend? What time of day works for your age group? Remember, nap time for the little ones can still be a problem, so it’s best to plan the party for a time when you know the kids won’t be too tired or cranky because they couldn’t sleep.

o Send your invitations 2 weeks before your party date. Buy linen paper at the office supply store and use a fancy “real” font on your computer to print the invitations. For local guests, roll the invitation in parchment and tie with an organdy ribbon and hand deliver. When mailing invitations, use cute stickers or rubber stamps to decorate the envelope royally.

or Do you plan to have “outdoor entertaining”? Secure that early too. Some great ideas for a princess party entertainer would be a balloon magician, balloon artist, or children’s storyteller. Check your local yellow pages under “Party Entertainment” or search the web for ones near you.

o Start making your party decorations early as well. Make fabulous royal stemware with inexpensive jewelry pieces hot glued to champagne flutes or plastic wine glasses. Do the same for clear plastic plates with the jewels along the outer edge. Tie the napkins with purple ribbon and you’re done. Fun and cheap!

o Balloons are essential for any birthday. Stick colorful balloons around the front door to create a real arch. Tie a bunch of balloons to the mailbox to show your guest the way to the ball. Even the colorful balloons all over the “dance floor” create a wonderful effect. If you have very young children, you should be careful with balloons, but kids love them…so get lots! Most craft and party stores sell inexpensive helium tanks, so filling the balloons is a breeze!

o Plan the actual menu and keep it simple. Present it to your royal guests in glass serving dishes with real or wax grapes as a side decoration. Serve typical “high tea” fare, finger foods, chocolate-dipped strawberries and bubbly punch in your plastic champagne flutes.

o The little princesses will be so adorable so get ready with fresh batteries so you can take lots of photos. A separate photo of each of the party guests with the princess of honor makes a great addition to the thank you note.

o Do not overdo it. Most children love to play and have fun. Organized games are great, but don’t make the party so structured that the kids don’t have time to spin around in their costumes or dance on the balloons…and just have fun together.
