Trout Fishing Report – New Zealand

A report was made from trout fishing in New Zealand that before autumn came, fishermen in New Zealand had to wait six weeks before it rained. The rainbows were sent into the major rivers that run into Lake Taupo and water was incredibly needed to give the Backcountry River a better flow. The month of May has been relatively warm and the fishing conditions have been magnificent for browns, unlike rainbow trout which were quite difficult to catch at this time of year. However, the spawning trout is quite large this year. So far, a 5 ¾ pound rainbow trout has been caught in Tongariro.

It is during the month of August that things will start to get intense on the local rivers. The rains that have been falling helped the fish to swim towards all the rivers. The fishing has been excellent, although the trout sizes are not very large, but the fun and experience of fishing are excellent.

The trout fishing report for the New Year – January has been one of the warmest on record. The flow of the water offered a good setting for fishing for nymphs and dry flies. Nymph fishing has been very successful in its role.

Time flies so fast and before you know it, Christmas is near. In November and December, some fishermen took out 6 hooks, but only landed with three. They even caught a willy brown, but were too quick to drop the fly before it hooked. Fishing is good in Tongariro during these months until Christmas. December has always been a remarkable month to go fishing with a substantially good number of catches. Furthermore, tourists begin to form flocks, making it easier to fish later in the season.

The rain can finally end during the months of August and September. A fishing trip this time of the month is worthwhile before the next rain comes and will most likely bring a significant number of trout into the rivers. It has been a favorable spawning and peaking season every September for trout for the last few years and it will certainly produce the same abundance this year and stay the same until Christmas.

Trout fishing is fun and rewarding as long as the angler knows where and when to go fishing. For now, the report indicates where in New Zealand and when it’s best to pack up and go. There have been reports of months when catching a small or large trout is openly available to anyone.

Now the next thing you need to do is learn how to get a good bite out of the trout found in rivers, lakes and streams. A fisherman does not have to be experienced or an expert in this field, as long as he has the basic knowledge and correct information, there is always a greater chance and opportunity to succeed in this endeavor. So enjoy every moment and try to develop your own skills and techniques while practicing fishing methods. One technique is to always read the new trout fishing reports which can help in your fishing schedule.
