Another great thing about beagles is that they are quite easy to keep. Apart from their ears, they are quite self-sufficient. Beagles were originally bred as hunting dogs and were often kept in open-air pens. It is not a breed that requires a lot of pampering. Beagles have a short coat and shed to a minimum. You can brush your beagle if you want, but it really isn’t necessary. This breed does not usually have odors either. It would be wise to bathe them several times a year, but it should be fine. All you have to do is make sure your beagle’s ears are clean. Beagles, like many bloodhounds, can develop ear problems if not cleaned properly.
Lastly, the best thing about beagles is that they are fantastic children. Because beagles are calm and friendly, they make excellent playmates for children. Beagle puppies love to play with children and because of their size; they are really good even with young children. Beagle puppies love to track. In fact, you can buy animal scents and set up little hunting games for them. Beagles love this!
