Poem – I wouldn’t change a thing

The dishes are all dirty.

the washing is stacked

the phone is ringing non-stop

I think I am going to cry

Children running down the hall

screaming at the top of my lungs

I dreamed of having more

Is this what life is about?

The dog has chased the cat.

even the curtains (all made to measure)

our bird is a song of your own

It’s dinner, he’s scared

Our bird could be closer

to the truth, from what he could know

because if the pot boils

one more time, over the stove

It will not be appropriate to give the dogs

much less, to feed the children

and Polly might find herself

in the pot, under the lid

I know this all sounds crazy

but I know that in the end

I would not change anything

and i would do it all over again

Because although sometimes we think

everything has been done in vain

a smile appears on our lips

and happiness remains

Yeah, sometimes they ride me up the wall,

but still

I would not change anything

Because I love them, don’t you know?

When you find yourself having a particularly difficult day and question the why and what of where your life is headed; sometimes the best thing you can do is look at the positive things in each day and see them with a touch of humor.

Life has a way of balancing itself with positive and negative aspects. It is through this balance that we learn to appreciate what we have been blessed with. This balance also teaches us coping skills and builds our character, making us stronger and more compassionate. As long as we view life as a learning process and properly draw from the lessons life has to offer, we can share that experience with others, offering spirit-lifting laughter and wiping away tears of sadness.

By better understanding her own emotions, she is able to offer that support to others in their time of need. Remember, each yesterday builds on each new tomorrow. The way we choose to view each day, how we carry memories of yesterday into tomorrow, and how we share those experiences can literally change another person’s life and our own.
